Bandalabra is the latest project from Skerik, the Northwest's enduringly saxophonic, punk-jazz iconoclast. Joining him are three of Seattle's most revered players: Andy Coe on electric guitar, Evan Flory-Barnes on upright bass, and Dvonne Lewis on drums. To paraphrase the words of its maker, Bandalabra is intended to conjure the sounds of "Fela Kuti seeing Steve Reich in rock-n-roll's backyard."
